FEBRUARY 3: GROUNDED

DAILY COMPANION  |  3 FEBRUARY

GROUNDED

"I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” - John 15:5 (NKJV)

A young entrepreneur once stood on a disused airstrip, staring at a small aircraft he had worked on for months. Everything looked intact, the fuel tank was full, and the destination was clear. Yet the control tower refused clearance for take-off. A minor but critical fault had been detected. Until it was corrected, the aircraft would remain firmly on the ground. No matter how eager the pilot was, no matter how powerful the engine sounded, flight was impossible without authorisation.

Like that aircraft, have you felt grounded lately? Do you have many abandoned projects piling up without progress in sight? Are you having difficulty actualising your dreams or “flying”? Or do you feel the lack of energy, tools or freedom to do the things you love or the business you are called to run? Jesus said, I am the vine, ye are the branches… for without me ye can do nothing (John 15:5).

Certain things, actions and inactions, can cause one to be stuck. Disobedience is certainly one of them. Disobedience to the voice of your heavenly Father is far more serious than disobedience to any earthly authority. You must remember that God owns and controls all the resources required to fulfil your God-given assignments. Without Him, you are grounded. Yet there are no limitations to what you can do through Christ. Paul declared, I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me (Philippians 4:13). Only God has the final authorisation to make you fly this year. Ensure you obey the rules, fix all the defects in your spiritual aircraft, ask Him if need help. It may require you waiting on the Lord with prayer and fasting.

Beloved, it is time to Arise, shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down… loose thyself from the bands of thy neck… for ye have sold yourselves for nought; and ye shall be redeemed without money (Isaiah 52:2–3).
Confess and repent of every trace of disobedience. Accept the chastisement of the Father when it comes, for whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth. You are God’s sweetheart. Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might (Ephesians 6:10). Let the joy of the Lord be your strength (Nehemiah 8:10). With God, nothing shall be impossible to you, and if God be for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31). No more delay, it is time to fly.

Today’s Recite:
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. (John 15:4)

Today’s Morning Prayer:
My heavenly Father, I thank You for Your word to me this morning. I confess my disobedience and accept Your chastisement. I am willing to fix all the defects in my spiritual aircraft. I want to fly.  Grant me Your mercy and a second chance. Revive all my abandoned projects and strengthen me to do exploits. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
